Augmented Reality for your products

You may be an expert in Augmented Reality, or maybe you have heard about AR, or perhaps this is the first time you come across this term, and you are at the right place for learning more about immersive technologies for your business. Here at Uquo, we want to answer some common questions like what is AR? What is it used for? Why invest in AR? We want to keep it simple and help you understand what this is all about.

Wikipedia defines it as “an interactive experience of a real-world environment where the objects that reside in the real world are enhanced by computer-generated perceptual information, sometimes across multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory and olfactory.” Augmented Reality (AR) is commonly related to other technologies from Industry 4.0 such as Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (MR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). It is also included in the development of the Metaverse, which in general terms, is a virtual universe that connects multiple digital spaces, like in the movie Ready Player One, a sci-fi film inspired in the novel of Ernest Cline. In the next video you can grasp a better idea about this:

IKEA, one of the largest furniture retailers, uses AR for showing the products and allowing their customers to imagine a better place before deciding on what they are going to buy. They have been using this technology for some years and it is one of the most common examples that you are going to find on the internet. In the next video you can watch some features from their app:

Samsung has developed an app for AR emojis and has joined forces with Disney for bringing characters from the movie Zootopia and delivering a more immersive user experience. Apart from Retail and Entertainment, Augmented Reality is being used in other industries such as Maintenance, Marketing, Automobile, and Healthcare, among others.

There are several companies around the world that are leveraging their businesses with technology to bring innovation and therefore, be more competitive. Just to name a few examples of successful companies that bet on innovation as a competitive advantage, as well as using Augmented Reality are: Apple, Google, Amazon, Facebook, and Netflix.

Uquo has been working with AR since our beginning and we like using cloud hosting, so the users do not have to install anything, they just need a device with a camera and connection to the internet. In the next video you can appreciate a Demo that we developed for a customer that produces food for animals and wanted to be able to give their clients more information about their products in an interactive way:
